Things to Do

Sammamish residents have access to a wide variety of events and amenities in nearby Seattle and Bellevue.

A treasured Seattle icon and one of the most recognizable landmarks in the city, the Space Needle was built for the World’s Fair in 1962. Symbolizing innovation and forward-thinking, the Space Needle stands 605 feet tall with a 520-foot, saucer-shaped top, giving guests the only 360-degree outdoor and indoor panoramic views in Seattle, showing off the sight of the Olympic and Cascade Mountains, Puget Sound, downtown, and Mount Rainier.

Mini Mountain provides ski and snowboard rentals with equipment carefully selected for each individual's skill level and size. All summer long, indoor ski camps are offered and include hikes through the mountains, team-building games, visiting the Snoqualmie tunnel, and rock climbing. In addition to skiing and snowboarding, Mini Mountain has outdoor climbing camps to teach about rock climbing.

The nearby Bellevue Arts Museum began as an art fair in 1947 before growing into a museum in 1975, although it did not find a permanent location until 2001. Providing a public place for people to appreciate, contemplate, and discuss visual art, the museum is a space where audiences and artists come together for the best experience of art and design. The Bellevue Arts Museum Art Fair is a core community program.

A 53-acre sanctuary in the center of Bellevue, the Bellevue Botanical Garden provides visitors with classes, guided tours, adult and youth tours, webinars, and children’s programs. Guests can visit the gardens individually or in groups. The Gardens provide two annual events: Garden d’Lights, a winter paradise full of lights, and Arts in the Garden, where 27 artists showcase a wide selection of 3-D artwork, which are available for purchase.
